Fried pickles seem to be all the rage in restaurants lately. If you’ve ever wondered how to make fried pickles at home, I’ve got a great solution for you. It is so simple and it doesn’t involve the mess of deep-frying. These air fryer fried dill pickles go well as a side dish or as an appetizer. They are perfect for tailgating.

I have ordered fried pickles at several restaurants and while some have been delicious, some have been soggy from too much oil. Yuck!

Using the air fryer eliminates that pitfall, yet keeps the crispiness and flavors. Magic!

Fried Pickles Recipe:

  • 1 jar of whole Kosher dill pickles
  • ½ cup milk
  • an egg
  • 1 container of seasoned bread crumbs*
  • 1 Tbsp. of oil

*If you can’t find seasoned bread crumbs in your local grocery store, you can substitute using regular bread crumbs and mix in 1-2 tsp. of Italian seasoning.

How to make fried pickles in the air fryer:

Remove the pickles from the jar. Dry them off using a paper towel. Slice them into ¼ inch to ½ inch slices.

Next, make an egg wash using ½ cup milk and 1 egg. Whisk together.

Place ¼ – ½ of the container of bread crumbs into a small bowl.

Dip the pickle slices into the egg wash, coating both sides.

Next, place the pickle slice into the bread crumbs. Once coated on one side, flip to coat the other side.

Use the oil to coat the air fryer basket to prevent sticking.

Place all the breaded pickles into the basket and set the basket inside the cooker.

Set the temperature to 392° and the timer to 15 minutes.

Be sure to flip the pickles halfway through the cooking time.

Once the timer rings, carefully remove the basket and allow the fried pickles to cool for 5 minutes.

You can also make this recipe by keeping the pickles whole if you would prefer. The nice thing about making these in the air fryer rather than the deep fryer is that they are healthier, less greasy, and less messy to eat.
