This Chipped Beef Dip is the definition of easy appetizer recipe! With only 3 ingredients, it comes together in no time and is so addictive!
I’m willing to bet you won’t find an easier recipe out there! This creamed chipped beef dip recipe is only 3 ingredients and comes together in just minutes.
Bonus points because it tastes amazing! It’s honestly baffling how so few ingredients can come together to taste so good, but I promise if you take this to a party, it will be gone in no time! This easy cream cheese and beef dip is the ultimate party food.
What is Chipped Beef?
Chipped Beef is salted, dried beef that comes in thin little pieces or strips. The beef is smoked so it’s packed full of flavor and doesn’t need a whole lot of other ingredients with it. You want the beef to shine on its own!
Since chipped beef is smoked and dried, you won’t find it in the deli section of your grocery store. Sometimes chipped beef is sold in jars that you can usually find near the canned chicken or tuna.
I always buy it in packets, though, that are served in the meat department near the bags of pepperoni or sausages.
Ingredients to Make Chipped Beef Dip
That is literally all you need! One block of cream cheese, one packet of chipped beef, and a dash of garlic powder! The only thing you’d really need to measure is the garlic powder, but I just give it a couple of shakes and call it good.
Cream Cheese: I use one, 8-ounce block of cream cheese for this recipe. You want it to be very soft, so be sure to set it out at room temperature a couple of hours before you need it. If it isn’t softened, you’ll end up with little chunks in it. I use full-fat cream cheese, but you can easily substitute it with reduced-fat cream cheese.
Chipped Beef: I buy the package of chipped beef that you find in the meat department. It’s 3 ounces which is the perfect amount for me. I’ve seen other packets that are 2 ounces. If that’s all you can find, I would use two packets of it for a total of 4 ounces.
Garlic Powder: I use 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. You want the extra flavor but you don’t want it to be overpowering. I don’t recommend substituting with garlic salt, though. The chipped beef is salty enough on its own that if you use garlic salt, it will be too much and have you puckering your lips.
Optional Ingredients:
Worcestershire Sauce: Feel free to add a dash or two of Worcestershire sauce for an extra kick!
Milk: A splash of milk will thin it out a little bit if you find it a little too thick.
How to Make Chipped Beef Dip
As I mentioned above, the first step is to let your cream cheese sit at room temperature for a couple of hours to make sure it’s completely softened.
Next you want to chop your chipped beef into small pieces.
In a medium bowl, add cream cheese, chopped chipped beef, and about a teaspoon of garlic powder.
Mix it all together and enjoy with crackers!
Tips for Making Chipped Beef Dip
- You can heat this up in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20-25 minutes if you’d prefer it as a hot-dip
- I like to make this a couple of hours ahead of time to give the flavors some time to meld together
- If you serve it with cucumber slices or celery sticks, it makes a really good keto, low-carb dip!
