This Homemade Buffalo Sauce is only 6 ingredients and can be used in so many ways! Skip the bottled stuff and make your own buffalo sauce for less money and time!
I’m a condiment girl all the way. Mayonnaise, honey mustard, barbecue sauce… I love them all and have a hard time eating many foods without a condiment.
But buffalo sauce is top of the charts for our household. There are just so many uses for it and we never seem to grow tired of that spicy kick.
We bought jarred buffalo sauce for years, but once I realized how easy it was to make, I was hooked. It’s only a few simple ingredients and a couple of minutes and you can have a homemade buffalo sauce.
One of the best parts of making it yourself is that you can control the heat. We have two weaklings in this house and two people that like it extra hot. I can just divide the original recipe into two portions and add a little more kick to theirs while still enjoying my portion!
Homemade Buffalo Sauce Recipe
Ingredients:
- hot sauce
- butter
- lemon juice
- garlic powder
- salt
- pepper
Almost all of those things are probably pantry staples in most households anyways. With the exception of maybe hot sauce, although that’s definitely a staple around here.
All you have to do for buffalo sauce is combine those ingredients in a small saucepan and heat through until hot.
After the butter melts, I probably let it heat for another 3 minutes or so. I just use a whisk to stir it every 30 seconds or so.
Then remove from heat and you can use it right away or cool it and refrigerate it for later. I keep it in a small mason jar in the fridge. It will last for about 2 weeks or so, but it never makes it that long for us since we’re usually making it for a specific purpose.

Storing Buffalo Sauce
The best way to store it is in a tightly sealed or airtight container, such as a jar with a screw-top lid. This will ensure that the sauce stays fresh and flavorful for up to a month. It’s important to shake the container well before each use, as this will help keep all of the ingredients evenly distributed.
