A fudgy chocolate cake topped with a mousse-like peanut butter filling and whipped cream! A delicious dessert that is guaranteed to be a hit!
I’m not sure I’ve ever taken this dessert anywhere where it hasn’t disappeared almost immediately. It’s not only a great looking dessert, but it tastes amazing too!
It’s three layers of your favorite desserts combined to make this peanut butter chocolate lasagna of goodness!
Chocolate Layer
The bottom layer starts with a box cake mix that you add the following to:
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
Blend all those ingredients together and then spread into a greased 13×9 pan and bake at 350 for about 25 minutes.
If you use the toothpick test it might come out with a few wet crumbs on it. That’s fine because cooking it a little longer may result in a hard crust which is not what you want!
Alternate: You can also use a brownie mix in place of the cake mix. Just make it according to the directions on the box. I prefer the fudgy brownies but if you pick a more cake-like brownie, it holds up a little better than the other layers.
And if you like to try the chocolate brownie, you can check out this Chocolate Brownie Cake. It’s a dessert that everyone will enjoy!
Just follow the directions on the box, bake according to instructions then let it cool completely before adding the peanut butter layer.
Peanut Butter Layer
Ingredients:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup smooth peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Combine all of the above ingredients into a large bowl and beat really well until smooth.
Fold in 3 cups of whipped topping until combined, then spread over the cooled cake layer.
Whipped Topping Layer
Spread the remaining 3.5 cups of whipped topping over the peanut butter layer. Then, sprinkle chopped peanuts over the top.
You can also melt a little chocolate and drizzle that over the top if you want for some extra pizzazz!
Refrigerate for about 2-3 hours to let the peanut butter layer set before serving!
It is so creamy and yummy! It tastes amazing with the fudgy chocolatey layer!
I can never get enough of peanut butter recipes whether they’re for breakfast, snacks, or dessert, peanut butter is a staple around here!
