Homemade Oat Milk Recipe

Oat milk is my favorite plant based milk! It’s creamy, smooth and I prefer to use it in recipes as a milk alternative. It’s also perfect for anyone with allergies as it is nut free and soy free.

I’ll admit I buy it often to use as a creamer but I don’t care for all the additive ingredients! That is why I love to make homemade vegan oat milk. It’s easy to make, budget friendly and so simple.

Why This Recipe Works

  • Quick and easy: All you need it a blender and 5 minutes! So easy to make.
  • Budget friendly: Oat milk has always been on the pricier side, but making it home is quick and economical.
  • Smooth and creamy: No slimy oat milk here! This homemade version is smooth, creamy and delicious.

Flavored Oat Milk Variations

  • Vanilla Flavor: Add up to 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the oat milk and mix.

How to make vegan oat milk in 4 steps.
  1. Mix. Use a food processor and add the oats, water, and vanilla. Mix for about 30 seconds.
  2. Strain. Using a strainer or cheesecloth over a large bowl, strain oat milk and discard pulp. Squeeze as much as possible to get the milk out completely.
  3. Pour. Transfer the milk from the bowl. This way, it is much easier to pour it into a container or bottle.
  4. Store: Store in the fridge.

Favorite Ways to Use Oat Milk

Oat milk can of course be consumed in the same way as any other milk. Use it at breakfast, for creamer or in cereal. Use it in soup, custards, or even just have a glass cold. It’s delicious!

My favorite ways include using it to make vegan Oreo milkshake, gluten-free vegan no-bake cookies and healthy breakfast peach crumble.
