- 16 oz elbow macaroni
- 2 tsp whole milk
- 10 slices American Cheese
- 1 tbsp butter, unsalted
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 ½ cup white cheddar cheese, shredded and divided
- ½ cup Parmesan cheese, shredded
Prepare the Cheese Sauce:
In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the milk, American cheese, butter, and salt.
Cook over medium-low heat to melt the butter and cheese.
Once melted, add the sharp cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and 1 cup of the white cheddar cheese in small handfuls, whisking constantly until the cheeses are melted before adding more.
Once all of the cheeses are added and melted, remove the pan from the heat and stir in the macaroni.
Bake:
Preheat the oven to 350℉
Pour the mac and cheese mixture into a greased 8"x8" baking dish.
Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of white cheddar cheese on top.
Bake until the upper layer is crusty and light brown, about 15 minutes.
Optional: Broil in the final 2 minutes of baking for a deeper golden brown crust.
