Ingredients

  • cups diced ham slices about 6 slices, chopped
  • 2 bunches turnip greens
  • 2 cups Chicken broth (2 cups)
  • 1 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar (1 tbsp)
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Olive Oil
  • ½ medium Onions

Optional:

  • freshly ground black pepper
  • Diced pieces of turkey

Instructions

Preparation:

  • Wash turnip greens thoroughly, remove any dirt, and separate the stems from the leaves. Cut leaves into small pieces.
  • Dice half a cup of onions and set aside. Cut up the garlic. Optionally, prepare ham hock or choose alternative meats like turkey slices, bacon, or chicken strips.

Cooking Process:

  • Heat oil in a pan, add onions and garlic, and sauté. Add meat.
  • Once onions are translucent, add washed and cut turnip greens to the pressure cooker.
  • Pour in chicken broth and apple cider vinegar.
  • Add salt, black pepper, and sugar. Adjust sugar to balance the ham's saltiness.
  • Set the cooker to manual and cook on high for 30 minutes.
  • After cooking, transfer to a serving dish. Garnish with additional black pepper if desired.
  • Serve with pepper sauce and diced pieces of turkey.

Notes

  • Wash turnip greens multiple times in cold salted water to remove grit.
  • Taste midway to adjust seasoning.
  • For additional flavor, consider using ham hock or experimenting with different meats.
  • Serve as a side dish for dinner or lunch.

Storage Notes

  • Cooling: Cool completely, then transfer to airtight glass or plastic containers.
  • Refrigerator: Store in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 5-6 days. Portion into meal-sized servings to minimize air exposure when reheating.
  • Freezing: Portion into freezer bags and freeze flat for up to 3-4 months.
